It is prohibited for the owner of such land, occupied or unoccupied, to allow the accumulation of filth, rubbish, trash debris, household articles or excessive growth of weeds, underbrush, and trees on the owner's property. This also includes the parking of or storing of any motor (engine) or vehicle in a junked or abandoned condition on the owner's property. For more information see chapter 15 of our City Ordinances. Yard & Garage Sales Permits are required for yard and garage sales at the rate $2.50 (for 72 consecutive hours) for the permit. These are permitted in residential areas only and are limited to 2 per year for a single location. Yard and garage sale signs must be placed on the owner's property. Placing signs near any major highway is prohibited and thus will be confiscated by our Code Enforcement Officer. Mobile Homes, Travel Trailers & Parking of Heavy Equipment Pre-manufactured homes moved into the city require a permit and must be skirted of acceptable material approved by the building inspector. Regular maintenance including washing the outside of the pre-manufactured home is encouraged. For more information call 904-259-7529 or email buildingdepartment@cityofmacclenny.com. Travel trailers, for temporary residency, are allowed on available designated spaces in existing mobile home parks only. Recreational Vehicles are allowed to be stored on your property but may not be occupied. See chapter 14 of our City Ordinances. Parking of heavy equipment, buses, and recreational vehicles on public streets in residential areas in excess of two hours is prohibited. Parking of semi-truck tractors and/or trailers and trucks designed for carrying things other than passengers with a capacity exceeding 3 tons are prohibited anywhere within residential areas. Parking along U. S. Hwy 90, SR 121, and SR 228 is allowed with some restrictions. For more information see chapter 20 of our City Ordinances. Structural Construction The construction of any structure requires a permit and must meet certain setback requirements according to zoning. Structures that do not meet requirements of our code, are subject to inspection and condemnation by the building inspector if the building is not brought up to our code standards. For more information see chapter 12 of our City Ordinances. Mailboxes The construction of mailbox should not exceed five (5) feet in height and must be securely mounted on post no larger than four-inch by four-inch or four-and-one-half-inch diameter wood posts or two-inch diameter standard steel or aluminum pipe buried no more than twenty-four (24) inches in the ground. The receptacle for the mailbox should be located in a manner which does not obstruct vehicular or pedestrian traffic or pose a public safety hazard.
